The Foundation of Curriculum in Indonesia


      To gain legality in implementation, the existence of curriculum should to require foundation. The foundation is useful as the background of application curriculum in Indonesia. Begin from curriculum 1947 until curriculum 2006, there are same foundation about application of curriculum. These foundations are legality, philosophy of Indonesia, psychological of students in Indonesia, social culture of Indonesian societies, and the development of technologies in the world.

A.                 Legality

     The implementation of curriculum should to emphases about legality. The legality of curriculum contains some rules that emerged by the government, such as by Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture. With the rules, the existence and the implementation of curriculum is more legal and licensed by the government.

B.                 Philosophy

     The application of curriculum in Indonesia is based on philosophy of Indonesian, namely Pancasila. Pancasila is an source and reference in operate many institutions in Indonesia, such as administration, education, and healthy. To do something, the institutions should to give their attention to Pancasila, as the ideology. One of example is when education institutions want to create and arrangement curriculum in Indonesia.

    In create and arrangement of curriculum in Indonesia, the government should to focus on education philosophy. This philosophy is useful as basic and direction in train education process in Indonesia.

C.                 Psychological

     The operation of curriculum in Indonesia should to give attention to psychological principle. The psychological principle means activity that related with psychology students. With give attention to psychology student, the implementation of curriculum will be success. It is cause the needed of student in many level is different with other, although it has relation with other. In simple example is when Indonesia government want to create and develop curriculum, they should determine the student needed in Indonesia.

D.                Social- Cultural

    Curriculum should to relate with social and culture of Indonesian societies. The relation is located on goal of curriculum, which create undergraduate of education institution. With suitable education graduate and necessary of society, it makes society in Indonesia will useful for many nations and other peoples.

    In basically there are differences necessary for society in a place to other place. It is caused by many factors, such as geographic location of societies. Hence, to create and apply curriculum, the government of Indonesia should to determine about social and culture in a place.

E.                 Technological

      The development and improvement of technology is one of foundation to develop curriculum. To develop curriculum, the government should to observe about progress of technologies. Technology in education is very important to apply because it has one of successful factor in teaching and learning. Almost every year technology in education is changes. The change is caused by human innovation and development about technologies. The education technology can be classified into two main groups, which are information technology and instruction technology. Information technology is source of science and knowledge that can student access in the information media, such as in internet, newspaper, and other. However, instructional media is source of teaching and learning without meet directly. To do teaching and learning activity, teacher is only give materials in outside of classroom and didn’t give materials in the classroom directly.
