Indonesia has changes many curriculums in their education history. These changes were determined by political power, changes of economic, and also the development of technologies in supports learning activity. However, changes of curriculums in Indonesia were same purpose that is to
develop Indonesian education quality. Winaryo (1977) state that three objectives of curriculum in Indonesia, such as function of curriculum for pertinent school, goal of curriculum for next education level, and function of curriculum for society. These function was describe about the existence of curriculum in Indonesia.
- Function of Curriculum for Pertinent School
The first aim of curriculum is to build successful education. This process can be occurs in the school, as place to operate teaching and learning activities. Hence, curriculum is useful as medium to gain successful education. Besides that, curriculum in school is useful as reference to operate teaching and learning activity.
- Function of Curriculum for Next Education Level
Education institution as the higher level of education in Indonesia has function in apply education activity. These functions as controller can balancer between educator activities and purpose of school in operate teaching and learning process. The higher educator was give controlling the teaching and learning activities in the school. If there is problems and misunderstanding about education purposes in the school, the function of the higher educator is to give their advice and solution.
- Function of Curriculum for Societies
Teaching and learning that occurs in school is can’t separate to the societies. Societies have important rule in operate education process in the school, such as taker and determiner about policies in the school. The implementation of curriculum should to watch the desirability of society. With watch desirability of societies, the graduate of school can be useful in the society.
